San Francisco cable car system is one of the types of public transport in San Francisco and one of the attractions of the city.
A cable car system is a hybrid of a tram with a funicular and a cable car. The car moves with the help of a metal cable mechanically connected to it, which is moved along the route by means of an engine located on a stationary platform at a depot or at a traction substation.
The cable car system is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places.
