Orava Castle (Slovak Oravský hrad) is a castle in Slovakia, located on a 112-meter cliff above Orava, near the village of Oravski Podzamok not far from Dolnogo Kubina. It is included in the list of national cultural monuments of Slovakia. The castle was laid in the middle of the 13th century on the site of an old wooden fort. The last stone was laid in the XVII century. It was first mentioned in 1267. In 1370 he became a dense castle of Orava. In the 16th century a palace was built on the territory of the Orava Castle. After a complete reconstruction in 1953-1968, the castle housed an exhibition of the Orava Museum. The castle is open to tourists for a whole year except January – March.
