Murom is a city in Russia, the central city of the Murom district of the Vladimir region.

In the city is home Zvorykin (XIX century), in which the family lived and the inventor of television was born Vladimir Kozmich Zvorykin. Now the building houses the Murom Museum of History and Art. In August 2013, a monument to Vladimir Zvorykin was opened. The monument depicting the “father of television” a young man.

August 1, 1999 on the viewing platform in Oka Park, a monument to Ilya Muromets was installed.

At the entrance to the city from the side of Vladimir you can see the Epic Stone. In the stone, the face of Ilya Muromets is carved and the inscription is carved: “In the summer of 6370 (862) … Pervian inhabitant in Murom, Murom …”. This is a quote from The Tale of Bygone Years with the first mention of Murom in the summer of 862 years.
