Bucharest is the capital of Romania, the most important economic and cultural centre of the country.
Bucharest used to be the site of the Vlach Codras, after the clearing of which the active settlement of these lands began. It is believed that Bucharest, like Rome, was built on seven hills: Mihai Voda Hill, Patriarchy Hill, Radu Voda Hill, Cotroceni Hill, Spirei Hill, Vecăresti Hill, St George’s Hill.
