Ussé Castle

Ussé castle is a medieval castle on the river Indre, located in the Loire valley. It was built in the 15th century. It is believed that it was this castle that Charles Perrault described in the fairy tale “The Sleeping Beauty”. Since 1885, the castle is owned by the Dukes of Blakas. At the suggestion of Prosper Merimee, the castle of Usse was in 1861 included in the state list of historical monuments of France.
