Kolovesi National Park is located near the city of Savonlinna. It was founded in 1990. The park includes two large islands, Vaajasalo and Mäntysalo, as well as several small rocky islands. Pines predominate on the hills in the composition of the vegetation, spruces prevail in the lowlands. In addition, there are also birch forests.

Ancient rock paintings created more than 5 thousand years ago are also of great interest. Visitors to the national park are advised to inspect it from the water, for which it is better to use a boat or kayak.

Badgers, foxes, lynxes, Saimaa ringed seal, otter live on the desert rocky plains. Eagle owls and crows nest on steep rocks.
