Located on the coast of the Guanabara Bay of the Atlantic Ocean, on a narrow plain, sandwiched on both sides by mountains and the sea. The area is open Portuguese navigator Gaspar di Lemos, who took the Guanabara Bay for the river, which was called the January River.
