Salvador (São Salvador da Bahia de Todos os Santos (English: Savior; Saint Savior from the Bay of All Saints)) is a city in Brazil, the capital of the state of Bahia.
The city is located on two levels. “Lower Town” is located at sea level, being the shopping center of Salvador. In the “Upper Town” are located government offices built in the colonial style, museums, churches and buildings of modern architecture. From the Upper Town to the Lower you can go down using the unique type of urban transport – the Elevador Lacerda.
