Vondelpark is a public city park of 47 hectares (120 acres) in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The park was opened in 1865 and was originally called Nieuwe Park, but later renamed Vondelpark, in honor of the 17th century playwright Jost van den Vondel. The park has a cinema museum, an open-air theater, and a playground.
