Kerala Backwaters is a network of brackish lagoons and lakes located parallel to the coast of the Arabian Sea of Kerala in southern India. It also includes interconnected canals, rivers and bays that form a maze with a total length of more than 900 kilometers (560 miles). The network includes five large lakes connected by artificial and natural canals.
