Located in Cuba.
Cienfuegos is the city, the center of the province of the same name. Located on the shores of the Caribbean, 250 km south-east of Havana.
The city was founded by French émigrés in 1819 under the name Fernardina de Jagua. The city received its present name in 1829.
In 2005, the historic center of the city was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
